WINDMILL: On the northeast corner of the pond
I will try to describe the particular challenges
to aerate this pond while you are looking at the pond.On the end of the pond the water will run 4 to 7 feet deep
running deeper down to about 12 to 15 feet on the south end.In the northwest corner there is another 15 foot hole just behind that island.
On the west side, behind the string of islands is a channel about 20 feet wide.
I am not sure of the depth there but no part of the pond goes dry in even the driest summers.I would like to use a stone in the deepest part
on the south end and one in the hole on the northwest corner. The only way I can see to get the water to turn over in the western channel
is a long hose with slits in it.Do you think the stones in the 2 holes would be enough to turn all the water over?
There are breaks in the islands although the largest one is fairly long.
The runoff that fills the pond comes from the watershed to the west.
There is a large lake to the south and south east of the pond
so there is plenty of wind all year long.I am planning to plant cattails where the runoff comes in at to keep the silt down, some type of lillies in the northeast corner to provide cover for the fish (there are bass and feeder fish) and cut down evaporation and cut all the trees down on the inside of the dam.
I also will clear the brush under the trees
on the southeast side to allow more wind in the summer to get thru. That's as much as I can think of to tell you.
Any suggestions or ideas?
