Pond Aeration | Recommendation
-- One Windmill
-- 2 Air Stones
Hello Rudy Koch:

The Koenders windmill has a lot of nuts and bolts,
-- tower legs and blade assembly and it takes a weekend to put it together and put it up.

As I see it, one guy can put it all together,
but it works better with 2 people working on it.

You are right, concrete mounting is recommended.

I have a page that shows a few examples.
-- 3 concrete pedestals -- a concrete slab with using all thread bolts

Erecting the tower takes several people.
One way is to lay the completed tower on the ground, at the site, then lift it up off the ground, slide the windmill assembly into the blue tower top, and have several guys erect the tower like raising a flag pole.

The tower is NOT built to stand on.

We are working on a system with 2 hinges on two legs, and a release on the third leg to easily tip the tower up and down to work on the windmill blade assembly and air compressor.

Here is a page with some tower mounting images:

If you can send a photo of your pond by email that would be helpful too.

Hello Malibu Water:

I'm very interested in your Koenders windmill aerator!
My location is in north central Texas, just south of McKinney.
I have just dug an excavated pond of approximately 0.5 surface acres.

It is horseshoe-shaped, 12' deep at the deepest point along the center line.

No vegetation or fish just yet, as it's a new pond.

It is intended to be a multi-use pond: fish to be stocked (bass/bluegill or catfish), watering stock, fire protection (pump system from the reservoir), and general recreation (swimming?).
I could run electricity to the site but prefer to not do that.

I am most interested in the installation.
I would really like to see the installation manual.
What type of footing is required - I read concrete.

Would this be a pier arrangement or a piered slab?

Can I put this up myself, perhaps as high as 16'?

I will probably opt to do a 12' as I believe I have sufficient prevailing southerly winds on the slope upstream of the pond entry.

Thanks/Cheers,

Rudy
