ENGLISH WIDMILL, Puttenham/Herts

Oct., 11, 2003 Princeton, Texas,...very good tips. Click here for photos
Hi John,

Well, after over a year, I finally completed the installation of my 16'
windmill. I'm pleased to share these photos with you to use as you like.
The system works very well and certainly met my expectations. The assembly
instructions were quite sufficient and all the parts came together without
any problem. I mounted the base on a concrete slab over 4' piers for the
legs. I hinged the base and incorporated a removable gin pole arrangment to
enable me to raise and lower the tower for maintenance. I used a couple of
inexpensive winches with top-mounted crank handles to operate the gin pole
and tower pull-over cables. I mounted the winches on 3-1/2' piers placed
within valve covers. I got the winches from Harbor Freight. Nothing
special about the hinges - used standard galvanized heavy-duty hinges,
attaching the long tang to the base. I ran 3/4" PVC pipe from the mill to
the pond, approximately 120' and T'd off to control valves mounted in valve
boxes where I switched over to flex line to the diffusers.

Thanks for the discussions we had last year and the advice you provided.
I'm very pleased with the system. Note that I also got super support
directly from Koenders as well.

R.L.K.

GREETINGS:

WE PURCHASED A 16FT WINDMILL IN MAY OF 2003 IN HOPES OF CLEANING UP A LAKE ON
OUR GOLF COUR$E WHERE THERE WAS NO ACCESS TO ELECTRICITY^ WE ARE VERY
PLEASED WITH THE CONDITION OF OUR POND AFTER ONLY A SHORT TIME.

THE WINDMILL IS VERY QUIET, LOW MAINTENANCE, AND PROVIDES AN INTERESTING
CONVERSATION PIECE AT OUR CLUB.

IT HAS WORKED SO WELL, WE HAVE PURCHASED 3 MORE TO USE IN OTHER PONDS.
WE HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THE PRODUCT AND WILL CONTINUE TO USE THEM
IN THE FUTURE.

Here are photos of the windmills we purchased from you. The windmills
are working fine, and we had no problems installing them. The photos
are of two different ponds.

Sincerely,

Leaping Frog Vineyards

The windmill is just great! I don't know if it is helping the water in the pond but I assume it is since I have seen fish still living in it after I stocked it with 150 brown trout in April 2002. You can see pictures of the windmill at | http://www.5d.com/vineyard |  just click on the pictures and you will see some windmill pictures. You can copy them into your own site if you want ....

If you like them I will take the digital camera out
-- and snap a bunch and then send em to you with a web link and you can use those too.

The double airstone works really well by the way.

Leaping Frog Vineyards, owned by Sophie and Stuart Duncan, is located in eastern Ontario along the picturesque Rideau River, south of the village of Kars. The wonderful terrain afforded leaping Frog is bound by water on all sides except the south.

August 2002

I purchased a Koenders electric aeration system about a year ago for my 1/10 acre pond and just got it hooked up this spring. After about 4 months of operation, I am pleased to report that my algae problem is gone and the pond appears to be in good balance. It is now a very attractive swimming hole and fish habitat. I am pleased with the result and happy that I purchased your product. It has done everything you said it would do.

Hey Jim

I talked to you earlier in the week about my air hose connection to my windmill, come to find out I had all the parts I needed right at home didnt even need to go to the store... I had a quick disconnect threaded on one end, and a air hose connector... I removed the air hose fitting on the windmill and clamped it to the hose, then I screwed that into the air hose fitting. I put some grease on the quick dissconnect, it screwed right into the bottom of the windmill put the two together and I was in business.

Thanks Jim
Your a lifesavor... at least my fish think so.

Sincerly
Mike Whitman

I'll send you a picture of my pond set up soon ... Thanks Again

Hello Jim:
Last year about this time I purchased a 12 foot windmill from you and am very happy with it I had a 20 foot opening in the ice all winter I will be buying one more soon. I have a friend of mine -- Herb Hoover in Wyalusing, PA -- that fell in love with the windmill and he would like to purchase one of his own, his pond is a little over 1 acre and is 16 feet deep he will be buying a 12 foot one if you can send him a brochure and any other info you have on the windmills along with prices and the cost to ship it to his address will be a big help.
Thanks

My Koenders Electric Aerator is doing real good.
The water in the pond is clear and
I think the algae is under control.
Have you had any luck with finding anti-freeze (alcohol) for my air line?

Where oxygen is really needed in a pond is at the bottom. Pond and lake bed aeration adds oxygen to all of the water, not only surface water, but to the water at the bottom as well. This is very important. Once the lake or pond is full of oxygen near the bottom, new insect larvae, snails, and other fish food can begin to live on the bottom.

By pumping compressed air out into the pond or lake bed aerator (from the electric aerator or windmill through an air line attached to an aeration stone), the rising air bubbles from the air stone bring bottom water to the surface where it is exposed to the atmosphere. Thus, large volumes of water brought up by the air bubbles lose bad gasses to the air, and pick up even more oxygen while on the surface (air contains 22% oxygen). Bacteria will breath oxygen if it is available. They like this new oxygen "banquet" in the water so well that they grow very fast, multiplying rapidly to gigantic numbers. Aeration speeds up this process of oxidizing or "burning up" the pollution in the water. Result: fresh, sparkling clear, sweet-smelling water which supports abundant fish life, free from excessive algae and weeds, and is available for live stock.
