WELCOME TO ENGLEFELD, SASKATCHEWAN!In 1903, the Englefeld area was settled by pioneers and named after Abbot Peter Englefeld of St. John's Abbey in Minnesota. The community grew quickly and soon a log church was built followed by a hotel, railroad line, general store and post office.
At present, there are three major businesses in Englefeld -- all which are involved in the manufacturing sector.
1. Koenders Manufacturing;
2. Koenders Windmills; and
3. Schulte Industriesall market their products nationally and internationally and provide employment in Engelfeld and to surrounding communities. Approximately 20 other businesses in the community provide a range of services to residents.
Since 1995 the Village of Englefeld has been steadily growing. In that time five new houses have been constructed, and seven other houses have been moved in. Recently developed, a new sub-division consists of 25 residential lots and 3 commercial lots. The population of Engelfeld is younger than average with 50% of the population under 35 years old.
Labour force participation rates in 1996 were 81.2% for men and 80% for women, higher than the average village in the region and higher than the provincial average. When the residents of Englefeld are not working, there is a curling rink, sports field, skating rink, fitness center, library and parks for recreation. Englefeld is also famous for their annual summer celebration and dance called Hogfest
