For an Existing System
If you want to retrofit an aerator to an existing septic tank, simply get an
aeration pump like ours, put the air diffuser in the second chamber of the
tank... access is through the tank lid or drill through the top of the tank.
Place an exit port filter on the exit port of the tank. If there is no access
to the exit port of the tank... make a separate chamber in the exit line
outside the tank to house the exit port filter.You need this filter to keep tank solids from entering either the seepage pit
or the drain field.Install a charcoal filter on the main septic tank. The aeration will drive
H2SO and methane into the air and it will get a bit stinky for a while. Once
the tank becomes totally aerobic... all smells will cease because the only
product of aerobic bacteria is CO2... like us. Mine smells like a bag of humus
or peat.So that's it. We can sell all the parts for this conversion, pump, filters,
etc... for about $1000, plus shipping. I have not pumped my 50 year old tank
for the last 15 years... when I installed this system.Hear are some questions:
-- How big is your tank?
-- Do you have seepage pits or a drain field?
-- Do you want to reuse the water?
We are now testing a $1500 system that disinfects totally.
We're using this for irrigation.
