
Aeration Removes iron, manganese, zinc and other metals through oxidation and precipitation. Metals are oxidized and drop out of suspension because they become heavier.Every so often (as needed) you should drain the bottom 2" of water from the bottom of the storage tank by drain valve or siphon. The drained water will be either a bright orange (iron) or a deep gray (manganese or zinc).
Aeration removes sulfur and other poisonous gasses (methane, ammonia, nitrogen) by phase distribution.

Aeration leaves all beneficial minerals intact - removes only metals, phosphates and gasses.
For sulphur removal we advise using no air diffusers at all. They are all degraded too much by the sulfated water. Just run the air line to a stainless steel weight at the bottom of the tank. Be sure to place the weight/air line in a plastic 5 gallon bucket to prevent the rising air bubbles from lifting up the bottom sediment.
